Team SHUNYA's event fest
This year, Team SHUNYA hosted its first ever online event fest – ‘Sustain’ as a part of team’s social awareness program towards sustainable houses. The main aim and objective of the event was to spread the awareness about sustainability, technology and the idea behind it. ‘Sustain’ was held from October 31, 2020 to November 1, 2020 with six different subsystem specific webinars for the participants. Hundreds of students participated in the two-day online fest.
International Competitions
We are the only team representing India in the prestigious competition, Solar Decathlon, often referred as the ‘Olympics of Sustainable Architecture’ which is organised by US Dept of Energy.
Solar Decathlon (Project Vivaan)
We took part in SOLAR DECATHLON Build Challenge US, Colorado, 2023 and secured 2nd position for the PROJECT VIVAAN and also received USD 50,000 for clearing the design phase.
Solar Decathlon (Project Daksh)
We participated in SOLAR DECATHLON Design Challenge US, Colorado 2021 and bagged 2nd prize for the PROJECT DAKSH in the attached housing division and also received the graphic designer award for spectacular virtual background.
Solar Decathlon (Project Solarise)
We took part in SOLAR DECATHLON at Dezhou, China in 2018 with ‘PROJECT SOLARISE’. We were given the "Best Participation" award for completing the house in 12 days.
Solar Decathlon (Project H-naught)
We took part in SOLAR DECATHLON at Versailles, France in 2014 with 'PROJECT H-NAUGHT’ and we got "Honourable mention in Sustainability".

Aim & Mission
Our aim is to build "affordable pre-fabricated net zero solar powered houses" making India's future energy secure. We strive to develop technology to build a solar-powered, sustainable house for the Indian middle class, which could serve as the answer to India's growing energy and housing problems. Our mission is to bring about a change in the Indian building industry, by demonstrating the affordability of sustainable housing, to formulate and document a design process, which could be replicated to create sustainable homes in a resource efficient way and to raise awareness in the nation about energy efficiency, responsible energy use and the potential of renewable technology with emphasis on solar energy.

Architecture & Market Analysis
Responsible for understanding user aspirations to development of design while considering aesthetics.
Civil (Structural+Material)
Structural team works on the design aspects.Materials team select materials for the project.
Electrical & Automation
Meets electrical requirements of the house such as energy demands,wiring and home appliances.
Sponsorship & Industry Collaboration
We are responsible for bringing sponsorships from organizations.
Mechanical & plumbing
Maintains the thermal comfort, regulates heat ,airflow ,ventilation, air conditioning & plumbing nework of the house.
